The Touching Message Behind Kelly Clarkson’s Piece by Piece Lyrics

Clarkson concluded that she’s “not angry” with her father anymore. “I’m 33 years old, I’m a grown woman. But it’s more of that thing where you can try your hardest to salvage relationships — and I did — but at the end of the day, if you keep getting hurt by someone because they just don’t know how to properly love people, it’s just not worth it,” she concluded. “It’s not worth the strain in your heart and it starts to bleed into your other relationships and it becomes super dysfunctional.”

I just found out a beautiful and inspirational song which is Kelly Clarkson ‘Piece by Piece’ (Idol Version). Actually, the song was in her last album but it has more upbeat feel to it before. This Idol version came after her performance in American Idol last season finale. The performance moved the judges and audiences, even i almost cried. When a song conveyed to audience with sincerest heart, even the most arrogant person could break into tears. This is the performance i was talking about:

Lyrics:

And all I remember is your back
Walking towards the airport, leaving us all in your past
I traveled fifteen hundred miles to see you
Begged you to want me, but you didn’t want to

But piece by piece he collected me
Up off the ground where you abandoned things, yeah
Piece by piece he filled the holes
That you burned in me at six years old
And you know,
He never walks away
He never asks for money,
He takes care of me
He loves me
Piece by piece he restored my faith
That a man can be kind and a father could… stay

And all of your words fall flat
I made something of myself and now you wanna come back
But your love—it isn’t free, it has to be earned
Back then I didn’t have anything you needed so I was worthless

But piece by piece he collected me
Up off the ground, where you abandoned things, yeah
Piece by piece he filled the holes
That you burned in me at six years old
And you know,
He never walks away
He never asks for money,
He takes care of me
‘Cause he loves me
Piece by piece he restored my faith
That a man can be kind and a father could stay

Piece by piece [6x]

Piece by piece I fell far from the tree
I will never leave her like you left me
And she will never have to wonder her worth
Because unlike you I’m going to put her first
And you know,
He’ll never walk away,
He’ll never break her heart
He’ll take care of things,
He’ll love her
And piece by piece he’ll restore my faith
That a man can be kind and a father should be great

Piece by piece.

This song is written by Kelly to bring strong messages to father out there who is trying to leave his family for new spouses or selfish reasons. Kelly knew what it took to be a strong and successful woman even with her absent father but she didn’t want her children, 20-months River Rose, to feel the same way that she did. It wasn’t a pleasant life story. In the last part of the song, she was inspired by her husband love’s for her daughter. So touching.

“I don’t even think I understood the gravity of [my relationship with my father] until I was pregnant with [River Rose],” she told Seacrest. “I was like, ‘I cannot imagine not seeing this kid to his or her full potential and just seeing what she’s going to do, what she’s going to be like.’ … I don’t think I knew how much that affected me until writing [‘Piece By Piece’]. I definitely didn’t know how it would affect me like it does when I sing it live because that’s not fun. It’s awesome, but it’s kind of sad that so many relate to this song.”

I really respect her that she’s matured, she won’t get revenge or something because her father was leaving when she was still a kid. I actually agreed with her when she said that if we keep getting hurt by someone because they just don’t know how to properly love people, it’s just not worth it to strain in your heart and it starts to bleed into your other relationships. She’s been through a lot but still managed to be so wise. So, for everyone out there who has loved ones; your spouse, your children, your friends, your parents, etc, don’t take their love for granted, don’t leave them for whatever reasons you have, be someone your loved ones proud of. Well, no one is perfect but you can strive your very best to be the best person for everyone who is worthy of your love.
